Social media tasks that pay in Nigeria: how they work in 2026

By the Hawkit New team · · 6 min read

Social media tasks that pay in Nigeria are small paid actions: following a page, liking a post, putting an advert on your WhatsApp status, installing an app and giving feedback. A business pays for the reach, the task platform holds the money, and you get paid once your proof is approved.

Pay per task is small, usually tens of naira for a follow and a few hundred for a good status post. Here's how the whole thing works, where the money comes from, and where you can get your account into trouble.

How do paid social media tasks work in Nigeria?

An advertiser, say a Lagos skincare brand or a new Abuja restaurant, deposits a budget and sets a reward per action. You pick a task, do it on your own account, upload a screenshot as proof, and get paid when it's approved. The platform takes a fee from the advertiser for running it.

That chain matters, because it's how you tell a real task platform from a scheme. Real tasks are paid from an advertiser's marketing budget. Collapsed "task" apps like NRC, which promised daily pay for reading articles and listening to music before it crashed in July 2026, per Legit.ng, had no advertiser at all. Your pay came from the next person's deposit.

Using Hawkit New as a worked example, here's the flow:

  1. An advertiser sets a reward, for instance ₦100 per WhatsApp status post. Hawkit New adds 20% to what the advertiser pays.
  2. The full budget goes into escrow. The advertiser only pays for approved work.
  3. You take a task and have 30 minutes to complete it and upload proof.
  4. Your screenshot is checked automatically.
  5. If the advertiser doesn't dispute it within 24 hours, it's approved and the money moves to your balance.
  6. Once your balance reaches ₦1,000, you can withdraw by bank transfer with no fee.

Tasks on Hawkit New open on Wednesday 4 November 2026. The platform is new, so there's no payout history to show yet, and you should judge it the same way you'd judge any app: withdraw small amounts early and see for yourself.

How much do social media tasks pay per task?

Expect ₦20–₦100 for follows, likes and subscribes, ₦50–₦300 for WhatsApp status posts, and ₦100–₦500 for app installs with written feedback. Exact rewards are set by each advertiser, so they move around. Status posts and app tests pay more because they take more effort and reach real people.

These are the typical ranges advertisers set on Hawkit New (the earn page lists every task type):

Task typeTypical pay per taskWhat you do
WhatsApp status post₦50–₦300Post an advert, keep it up, screenshot views
App install and honest feedback₦100–₦500Install, use, write genuine feedback
YouTube subscribe or watch time₦30–₦200Subscribe or watch a set duration
Facebook page like or follow₦20–₦120Like or follow a page
TikTok follow, like or view₦20–₦100Engage with a video or account
X follow, like or repost₦20–₦100Engage with a post or account
Instagram follow or like₦20–₦80Follow an account or like a post
Telegram channel join₦20–₦80Join and stay in a channel

Do the maths honestly. Forty Instagram follows at ₦50 each is ₦2,000. That's a day's data and transport for a lot of people, not a salary. Status posts are where the better money is, if your contacts actually view your status. Someone with 800 engaged contacts in Kano is worth more to an advertiser than someone with 3,000 numbers who never posts. Our WhatsApp status earnings guide goes into building that audience.

How do task apps check your proof?

Most task apps ask for a screenshot that shows the action completed: the "Following" button, your liked post, your status view count, or the installed app. Some check automatically, some use human reviewers, and many let the advertiser dispute bad proof. Fake or edited screenshots usually get the account banned.

Good proof has a few things in common:

  • It's the right screen. The follow button must show "Following", not the profile page before you tapped.
  • It shows your account. Your username or profile picture should be visible where the platform asks for it.
  • It's on time. On Hawkit New, you have 30 minutes after taking a task to upload proof. Miss it and the slot goes to someone else.
  • It stays true. Unfollowing straight after approval is the quickest way to lose an advertiser's trust and your account's standing.

If an advertiser disputes your proof, you should be able to see why. A platform that rejects tasks with no explanation, or rejects most tasks just before payment, is one to leave.

Can doing social media tasks get your account banned?

Yes, it can get your account restricted, and you should go in knowing that. Instagram's guidelines tell users not to artificially collect likes or followers, and TikTok says it removes inauthentically inflated followers and likes. High volumes of follows from one account look like bot behaviour and trigger action blocks.

Here's what the platforms say. Instagram announced in 2018 that it would remove inauthentic likes and follows gained through third-party apps, PetaPixel reported. TikTok's integrity and authenticity guidelines say it removes fake followers or likes when it finds inflated metrics, and it bars selling followers or likes. Neither company publishes an exact daily limit. Numbers you see online are guesses.

In practice, that means:

  1. Keep volumes low. Hawkit New caps Instagram and TikTok at 40 tasks a day each to protect accounts. That's a ceiling, not a target.
  2. Spread actions out. Twenty follows in two minutes looks like a script. Do a few, then live your life.
  3. Stop if you're blocked. An "action blocked" message means slow down for a few days. Pushing through can turn a temporary block into a permanent one.
  4. Don't use your business page. If your Instagram account brings you clients, don't risk it on ₦50 follows.

My honest view: status posts and app tests are the more sensible tasks. You're showing a real advert to real contacts or testing a real app, which is closer to what platforms allow. Mass follow tasks pay least and carry the most account risk.

Why can't app-install tasks require a star rating?

Because paid ratings break both Google Play and App Store rules, and the reviews get removed anyway. Google treats any rating given in exchange for money as incentivised and filters it. Apple bans compensated reviews outright. A task that pays you for "5 stars" is asking you to break the rules for the advertiser.

Google set this out in its 2017 Android Developers Blog post: developers must not inflate ratings, reviews or install counts through incentivised means, and apps doing it can be filtered from charts or removed. Apple says compensated or incentivised ratings aren't allowed, and that in 2023 it removed nearly 152 million fraudulent ratings and reviews, according to the App Store.

So the only app tasks worth taking pay you to install, use and give honest feedback. Hawkit New never requires a particular star rating on app review tasks, and you shouldn't accept one anywhere that does. If the app is bad, say so.

Questions

How much do social media tasks pay in Nigeria?

Most follow and like tasks pay tens of naira each. On Hawkit New, advertisers typically set ₦20–₦80 for Instagram follows or likes, ₦20–₦100 for TikTok and ₦50–₦300 for WhatsApp status posts. App installs with honest feedback pay ₦100–₦500. Rewards are set per task by the advertiser.

Can my Instagram or TikTok account be banned for doing tasks?

It can be restricted. Instagram's guidelines discourage artificially collecting likes and follows, and TikTok says it removes inauthentically inflated followers and likes. Doing hundreds of actions a day looks like a bot. Keep volumes low, use a real account you care about carefully, and stop if you get an action block.

How is proof checked on task apps?

You usually upload a screenshot showing the completed action, such as the follow button changed to 'Following' or your status view count. On Hawkit New, screenshots are checked automatically and approved after 24 hours unless the advertiser disputes them. You have 30 minutes after taking a task to upload proof.

Is it legal to get paid for leaving app reviews?

Getting paid to install and test an app isn't illegal, but paid ratings break Google Play and App Store rules. Google treats reviews offered in exchange for money as incentivised and filters them. Only give honest feedback, and never accept a task that requires a specific star rating.

Do I need to pay to join a social media task app?

Some apps charge a one-time activation to keep out fake accounts. Hawkit New is free for its first 10,000 users, then ₦1,000 once. Be wary of apps that sell higher 'levels' for bigger daily earnings. Paying more to earn more per task is the pattern of collapsed schemes.

What is the minimum withdrawal on Hawkit New?

The minimum withdrawal is ₦1,000 with no withdrawal fee. Money goes by bank transfer to any Nigerian bank or microfinance bank, including OPay, PalmPay, Kuda and Moniepoint. Withdrawals are automatic and designed to arrive in under 10 seconds; flagged ones are reviewed within 30 minutes.
